The minimum requirements for a LAPL are:
  • Minimum 30 hours of training, of which 15 must be dual.
  • Six hours of supervised solo time, including at least 3 hours of solo cross country and a qualifying solo cross country flight of at least 80 nautical miles with one full stop landing at an airfield other than the departure airfield.
  • Pass 9 CAA Ground exams.
  • PASS a class 2 medical.
  • Pass a test with a CAA examiner.
  • Hold a LAPL or class 2 medical.
The minimum requirements for UK CAA Private Pilot Licence are:
  • A minimum of 45 hours of training, of which at least 10 hours must be supervised solo time.
  • Minimum 25 hours dual.
  • A qualifying solo cross-country flight of at least 150nm with two full-stop landings at two other airfields.
  • Pass nine ground exams.
  • Obtain a class 2 medical.
  • Pass a flight test with a CAA examiner.
