How long does it take to get a pilot’s license?
The minimum requirements for a LAPL are:
- Minimum 30 hours of training, of which 15 must be dual.
- Six hours of supervised solo time, including at least 3 hours of solo cross country and a qualifying solo cross country flight of at least 80 nautical miles with one full stop landing at an airfield other than the departure airfield.
- Pass 9 CAA Ground exams.
- PASS a class 2 medical.
- Pass a test with a CAA examiner.
- Hold a LAPL or class 2 medical.
The minimum requirements for UK CAA Private Pilot Licence are:
- A minimum of 45 hours of training, of which at least 10 hours must be supervised solo time.
- Minimum 25 hours dual.
- A qualifying solo cross-country flight of at least 150nm with two full-stop landings at two other airfields.
- Pass nine ground exams.
- Obtain a class 2 medical.
- Pass a flight test with a CAA examiner.
